Whistler hut trip and AK so far

Hey guys,

sorry for not keeping my blog up to date but it has been pretty busy in the last few weeks/months. Since I'm on the go right now I'll keep it short. After filming in Revelstoke and the FWT stop in Fieberbrunn I'm back in North America again. I btw landed on a rock at my run in Fieberbrunn, kept on skiing but obviously got a big deduction by the judges and ended up on 15th place.

Anyways, I've been filming together with Neil for Whiteroom in and near Whistler in the last few days. The actual filmtrip was a heli dropoff to a hut near Squamish. We spent 2 days touring and found some really cool lines to ski. Unfortunately we couldn't stay longer since Neil had to fly to Colorado for a competition and I flew to Alaska on the next day. I really want to go back there soon and ski all the lines we couldn't reach on this trip. Pete Oswald filmed us and brought his buddies Sam and Nick. So we were three Kiwis, one Aussie and an Austrian, haha.

we skied that face but the hike took us longer than expected. we didn't make it up early enough to get nice sunlight.

me dropping a cliff. thanks for taking the shot neil!
Pete filming the shit out of it!

getting picked up again

Yesterday I've arrived in Juneau, Alaska. Actually it's my first time in AK and of course I'm really stoked and looking forward to three cool weeks of hiking and heliskiing. We went for a short skitour today and just finished packing for a big camping trip on the glacier. We will get dropped off in the middle of nowhere by a skiplane and hike lines from a basecamp. Check out some pics that I took so far.

tourists in Juneau, haha!

that's the plane which will take us to the glacier tomorrow. the flight will be about 1 hour

massive shopping day! Joi is checking the receipt. did we forget something?

the locals here are really friendly.we met that guy the other day and he surprised us by leaving a bag full of fish at the reception of our hotel

Thanks for stopping by!

cheers,

POV run Hochfügen Big Mountain

Hey guys. I didn't get lucky at the last few comps, I crashed 3 out of 3 FWQ 4-Stars already. This time in Hochfügen I tried to ski a similar line than last year but wanted to do the last part a bit bigger. Unfortunately I got too much backseat in the first landing of my double and just flew backseat off the next cliff. I was really bummed because it would have been a cool run and I really like this comp face. You can watch my POV video, filmed with Contour here underneath the text.
My next comp will be in Andorra next week. Before and after that I'll do lots of filming with the Whiteroom guys, we planned some trips to Canada and Alaska as well, I'll keep you up to date!
Oh and I recently joined Instagram, so feel free to follow me ;-)

Wildspitz North Face and Time for the Whiteroom

Hey guys, Domi and me did our first north face this season. After all those lift accessed skidays we figured that we had to go on an adventure again. The last time I've used my crampons and ice axes was back in New Zealand in summer. Unfortunately we started pretty late that day and spent some extra time practicing different rope safety techniques so it got dark on our way back out of the valley. The good thing about being late was the amazing sunset when we got out of the wall. Thankfully the full moon was really bright because none of us brought a headlamp.
And we've just released our last years movie called Time for the Whiteroom, you'll see the Link at the end of this post, enjoy!

I'm leaving for the next comp in Engadin tomorrow. It's a 4-star FWQ event. Let's see how it goes :)

Cheers,
Fabi
